A charity appeal are celebrating over two decades of delivering humanitarian goods in Eastern Europe by travelling to Romania for the first time.

Over 600 shoeboxes and hampers filled with donated goods have left the Island for a four-day journey to reach some of the poorest communities in Eastern Europe.

The Steam Packet Company has consistently supported Drop Inn Ministries Isle of Man, which organised an Island-wide appeal for filled Christmas shoeboxes, as well as clothes, knitted blankets, towels and food items.

This will be the 20th year the Christian charity – headed up by Steve and Alison Taylor - has made the 4,500 miles round trip.

The Christmas shoebox appeal invites Island schools and local organisations to fill Christmas shoeboxes with a variety of practical items and toys aimed at different age groups.

Drop Inn Ministries Isle of Man is this year celebrating two decades of delivering aid to countries that need its support, having delivered in excess of 22,000 shoeboxes over the past 20 years.

Alison spoke to Energy FM on her way to Romania about how grateful she and Steve are for all the help they've received:
