A reception has been held to honour the Manx Aviation and Military Museum Director's MBE award.

Ivor Ramsden, who has served more than 25 years to Manx National Heritage and tourism on the Island, was granted HM the Queen's award during the Birthday Honours in June of this year.

Lieutenant Governor Sir Richard and Lady Gozney hosted a reception for Ivor at Government House on 20th November.

The Lieutenant Governor highlighted Ivor's exceptional and inspiring work noting that he has put together the displays and also conserved and catalogued 9,000 items in the Museum’s collection.

A warm message of congratulations was read out from Air Marshal Sir Ian Macfadyen, a former Lieutenant Governor who remains an active Patron of the Manx Aviation and Military Museum.

Mr Ramsden acknowledged the support of his fellow volunteers and their families and highlighted the people who had inspired him, all of whom were guests at the event: Mr Hector Duff; Mr Leonard Stanway; and, his own daughter, Rachel.

Ivor will formally receive his MBE medal at an Honours Investiture at Buckingham Palace in February next year.
