A commissioner says the loss of Lloyd’s Castletown branch is ‘doing a disservice’ to many who use the bank on a regular basis.

It was announced this week the branch will close next year as fewer customers are using it, with more turning to online banking.

Colin Leather says the elderly will miss out on the social interaction provided by a local branch, and not all feel comfortable using a computer to manage their finances.

He’s bringing the issue to a Castletown Commissioner’s board meeting on Monday (4th October), and will propose a meeting with Lloyds to express the town’s concerns.
