An Onchan commissioner has resigned from the local authority this morning but promised a return to Manx politics ‘when the time is right’.
James Cherry has announced he’s standing down for personal reasons, a decision he says was taken with deep regret.
Elected in May 2016, Mr Cherry became one of the youngest commissioners in the Island, aged 21.
He served on the Onchan board for more than three years, and says it’s been an honour to represent the district.
Mr Cherry has thanked authority staff for their hard work and commitment during his tenure, and wished the board well for the remainder of its term.
