Fire crews from Peel and Douglas fire stations were called out to a fire at The Hope, St Johns yesterday.

They arrived at the property to find that the occupant of the address was not in the building, entering the house which was smoke logged to investigate.

The fire was confined to a single appliance in the kitchen, which the fire crews extinguished using a high-pressure hose.

Crews then ventilated the property using a positive pressure ventilation fan and remained in attendance for around 45 minutes.

IOMFRS would like to remind members of the public to check smoke alarms are working corectly in their homes, as they play a vital role in reducing deaths and injuries by fire.
