Employment and Skills 2019 event to be held at Villa Marina

Fri, 25 Oct 2019

The 2019 Employment and Skills event will see a diverse range of local businesses and industries inspiring the Island’s students as they find out more about the world of work and understand the importance of broad, transferable skills.

The event, at the Villa Marina on 7th November, is open between 9am and 5pm, when employers will be meeting with young people, from the Island’s secondary schools, who are making choices about which subjects to study and how these choices fit with future career aspirations.

The day also provides the opportunity for members of the public to come and explore different economic sectors and pathways to employment, whilst considering their own employability skills.

Over 50 organisations will be present in the Royal Hall and the Promenade Suite.

Graham Cregeen MHK, Minister for Education, Sport and Culture said: ‘The event theme of More is More reflects that, the more meaningful encounters young people have with employers whilst still in education and training, the more likely they are to be motivated and successful when they enter employment.'

The Employment and Skills event supports the Isle of Man Government’s aim to ensure the workforce has the skills required to meet the needs of a growing and diversified economy.
