Chief Minister says Gov will 'beef up' customs and excise following Brexit

Fri, 18 Oct 2019

Chief Minister Howard Quayle has given his views on the latest Brexit announcement and the Island's situation regarding goods being transported between Northern Ireland and ROI.

He said the Island will ‘beef up’ customs and excise, following the announcement from Boris Johnson that a deal will be made tomorrow.

The Isle of Man will allow those from Ireland to come through customs without showing their passport, but anyone travellng from the EU through Dublin or Belfast will have to go through thorough checks.

More people will be recruited and trained appropriately on-Island for the operations.

The Chief Minister spoke to Energy FM about the plans to be put in place:
