Police are urging drivers to check their vehicles for road worthiness before travelling as winter sets in.
They say that due to the darker nights drawing in, officers will commence their annual Winter Vehicle Check Operation, with roadside checks around the Island.
Police said that they stopped 220 vehicles in 2018 Island-wide, with 122 found with defects.
They are warning drivers that failure to check vehicles before driving can result in penalty points and fines, as well as seizure of vehicles and/or prosecution.
