Crews from Laxey and Douglas Fire Stations have rescued someone from Laxey River this morning.

Just after 8am crews were called to assist a person in distress in the water near Laxey Glen Gardens.

Fast moving water meant specialist protective equipment was used, and the casualty was removed via a 10 ft bank using line rescue.

Crews passed the casualty onto the IOM Ambulance Service.

The fire service would remind the public not to drive or wade into moving water if at all possible, especially if it is fast flowing. Moving flood water can sweep you off your feet if it is only a few inches deep
