MSPCA rescue seal in Douglas

Thu, 03 Oct 2019

A seal pup has been rescued on Douglas beach by MSPCA volunteers.

A video was posted on the charity's social media page this afternoon, with the statement: 'We wanted to thank the public for letting us know about the seal pup on Douglas beach today.

'We also wanted to thank the Manx Wildlife Trust for their help, and a special thank you to their volunteer, Wyn!

'This was a hard call for us because the seal pup was not injured. We encourage everyone to stay away from seals and wait 24 hours for the tides to turn again. This gives a young seal the chance to make its own return to the sea, which most of them do once they've rested.

'This seal pup was removed from Douglas beach as the tides were too strong and with the storm coming in, we feared he would get injured. He is now in a safe, sheltered beach location, nearby.

'Thank you to all those that helped.'
