Laxey hit by major river flooding

It’s been caused by torrential rain overnight and this morning, severely affecting the homes adjacent to the river along Glen Road.
A rest centre manned by government support staff has been established at Christ Church for those who’ve had to leave their homes.
It’s understood Manx Utilities had knocked a hole in the wall along Glen Road to allow a digger access to rebuild the weir.
A ‘significant amount of water’ was seen streaming out from this point according to Pete Burgess, the clerk to Garff Commissioners, who’s been out helping Laxey residents during the torrential flooding.
