Police are warning drivers in the South of the Island to abide by the restrictions following reports of speeding on the Gansey/Fishers Hill road.
They have shared a post from the Department of Infrastructure’s Facebook site that the engineer in charge of the roadworks operation is reporting a number of drivers ignoring the speed limit, and that the entire south-bound carriageway is one way and remains a 10mph zone during resurfacing works.
It has forced some activities to stop so that workers on site are safe.
The DOI state: ‘The reason for the speed limit is primarily for the safety of the workforce working on the site. The contractors are currently preparing the north bound carriageway for being laid. The works to get this done are likely to go on for the rest of today and tomorrow, with the final layers of the second carriageway laid from Friday and into the weekend.
‘Please co-operate with us so we can to get the final part of the carriageway refurbishment completed in a safe fashion for all.’
