Freedom Travel shop closed following Thomas Cook collapse

Tue, 24 Sep 2019

Local travel agent Freedom Travel has closed its doors in Strand Street following the collapse of UK branch Thomas Cook.

There is currently some information in the windows and doors of the store in Douglas, saying: ’We are having to prioritise customers who have existing bookings and are currently in resort or are due to travel within the next month. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.’

’From today and until we have dealt with all our Thomas Cook customers, we feel it is not right for us to take any new bookings with any operators due to our team concentrating on helping the customers we already have who need our help.

’Please be patient with us at this difficult time, we are doing our absolutely best and will aim to deal with everyone as quick as possible.’

Freedom Travel is part of the Thomas Cook branch, with their head office listed at the same address.

Yesterday Energy FM published information for what to do if you are already abroad or have booked a holiday through any travel companies which are affected by the liquidation of Thomas Cook.

The IOM Government are advising consumers should make any further claims with ATOL, their holiday insurance or their bank/credit card company, and for further queries to contact the Office of Fair Trading on 686500.
