Work begins on new housing development
Tue, 24 Sep 2019
Work has started on major new housing development in Ballasalla.
Plans for the first phase of the scheme were approved earlier this summer and it’s hoped the first
homes will be completed by Spring next year.
The planning application by the Dandara Group comprises of 282 new homes in the area,
including both single and two-storey properties, and includes two, three and four-bedroomed
homes.
Up to 190 jobs are being created as part of the project.
The land is zoned for development to the south east of the village and includes a 1.5 km by-pass
road to be built as part of the development.
The by-pass will divert traffic away from the village centre, starting with a roundabout at Glashen Hill
on Douglas Road, through to Balthane Corner near the entrance to Balthane Industrial Estate, where
a new roundabout would be created.
