An acclaimed and beloved war veteran who is turning 100-years-old next month has received over 300 well-wishes after falling ill.
On Friday, the Onchan branch of the Royal British Legion posted on their social media page that Hector Duff had been admitted to Nobles Hospital.
They stated: 'We have been given permission from Our dearest President Hector Duff BEM, MM, TH, LDH to let you know he was admitted to hospital on Friday. He was quite poorly but Sheila visited him today and he’s doing really well. Please can we fill this page with good wishes for him as we have a very important birthday coming up on the 15th October. We are sure your messages will cheer him up.'
Mr Duff's family have thanked everyone on the Facebook page for their kind words and say that he is doing well.
Hector is a well-respected veteran who has frequently given talks about his experiences at schools across the Island and was awarded the Tynwald Honour at age 95.
