Annual theatrical festival opens playwriting competition

A local theatre company will kick-off an annual celebration of all things theatrical with a playwriting competition.

Stage Door Entertainment are hosting Theatrefest, now in its fifth year, is funded by IOM Arts Council and includes performances, workshops and an annual playwriting competition.

The festival is curated each year to promote and encourage entirely new theatrical works, with this year’s the theme of ‘Identity’.

The winner will have their play performed as part of TheatreFest ‘20 and the deadline for entries is January 31 2020.

The 2018 competition was won by Michael Bonner with his supernatural play 'Purga Tree', which will be performed at Studio Theatre, Ballakermeen on 4 October.
