The Department of Environment Food and Agriculture are reassuring residents that the horse strangles outbreak is under control.
News of the infection spread via a social media post shared by a local riding club last week, with numerous equestrian events being cancelled to protect horses.
Strangles is also known as equine distemper, a contagious infection which makes swallowing and breathing uncomfortable.
