Peel RNLI Lifeboat station is being extended to make room for the station’s new boat arriving next year.
Changes to the lifeboat station, situated on the Peel Breakwater, are needed to accommodate the new all-weather vessel and its launch vehicle.
Peel’s new Shannon class lifeboat was launched at RNLI Headquarters in Poole last week for testing and sea trials.
The Shannon is the first modern all-weather lifeboat to be propelled by water jets instead of traditional propellers, making it the most agile and manoeuvrable all-weather lifeboat yet.
