The Edinburgh Woollen Mill Group has today confirmed its acquisition of Tynwald Mills, pledging to invest in the site immediately and create new jobs.
The move signals its ambitions to cement the retail centre as the number-one shopping destination site on the Island for families and tourists.
The Group owns other department stores in the UK with similar historic mill sites, such as Masson Mills Shopping Village & Historic Mills and The Scottish Deer Centre.
They also want to further establish Tynwald Mills as a key destination for international tourists who visit.
Edinburgh Woollen Mill employs 25,000 people globally and operates more than 1,200 stores and concessions.
A spokesperson for The Edinburgh Woollen Mill Group said: 'We recognised straight away that Tynwald Mills represents an incredible opportunity to build an attractive shopping destination in a wonderful setting.
It has been an ambition of ours to expand into the Isle of Man for some years, so we are both proud and excited to have secured this fantastic site and look forward to becoming part of the community long term.
We are a family business that thinks and acts long term, and we look forward to playing our part in the economic growth of the Isle of Man over the next decades.'
