Alcohol Arrest Referral Scheme working says Police Chief

The number of reoffenders who have committed crimes relating to alcohol consumption have decreased, according to police data.

Chief Inspector Gary Roberts shared his thoughts via Twitter, stating that of the 333 people who have been placed on the latest iteration of the Alcohol Arrest Referral Scheme, only 11% have gone on to reoffend. 

The scheme is a partnership with local charity Motiv8, who work with those struggling with alcohol addiction as an alternative to prosecution.

Central Alcohol Unit Sergeant Alan Shimmin says that the figures are good news for the team:
