A FlyBe flight (BE817) to the Isle of Man with 38 passengers onboard has made an emergency landing at Manchester Airport.
The Dash8 aircraft was only minutes in to the flight this afternoon (Wednesday) when the Captain shut down an engine and returned to Manchester.
One passenger told Energy FM News they heard a loud bang and smoke came in to the cabin. They said that some passengers were crying and were clearly distressed as the incident was incredibly frightening.
Emergency Services scrambled as the aircraft approached Manchester - It landed safely and passengers disembarked normally.
A Flybe spokeperson said: "Flybe can confirm that the above flight landed safely at Manchester Airport having returned from airborne following a technical fault shortly after take-off that resulted in the captain following standard procedures and electing to shut down one of the engines as a safety precaution. The aircraft landed without further incident."
"As is standard procedure, the aircraft was met by the airport’s emergency service vehicles."
