90-year-old takes part in abseil

Tue, 03 Sep 2019

A 90-year-old Ramsey man has abseiled 100 metres down Liverpool Anglican Cathedral to raise funds for a cancer charity close to his heart.

Alan Cope travelled on and off island with the support of the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company in aid of the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation.

He was escorted on the trip by his partner Marion and friend Paul Atkinson, who also abseiled, and it is expected the final total will be around  £5,000.
