A pay dispute between the Department of Education, Sport and Culture will not have an affect on the first of day of the new school year.
The DESC has released a statement to reassure parents that primary schools will open as expected next Wednesday and that the proposed industrial action will not have any immediate impact on the education provided to pupils.
The National Association of Headteachers confirmed this week that its members will take action next week.
Separately, the Department has written to all primary school teachers to explain the potential impact the industrial action will have on them.
