A digital counter installed on the Douglas Promenade walkway cost £16,000.
The counter was set up to record the number of walkers and cyclists using the walkway.
Officials from the Department of Infrastructure last month said the counter will enable them to know how many people are using the walkway and, in turn, make informed and better decisions about where to target resources.
Infrastructure Minister Ray Harmer has confirmed the display kiosk will be moved to the junction of Broadway at the end of the promenade scheme.
