Fire crews called to school

Firefighters were called were called out to Ballakermeen High School earlier.

The crew were called to the school in Douglas at just after 10am.

The fire alarm had activated due to smoke from an overheated bitumen heater. Contractors working at the school were able to isolate the gas to the heater . 

Crews were on standby as the burner cooled and used a thermal image camera to check the room beneath the heater.
