DEFA have announced only one area of the Island will remain open for queen scallop fishing from Monday.
The East Douglas area will only remain open for fishing with other areas of the territorial sea closed to allow queen scallop stocks on other grounds to recover.
Geoffrey Boot MHK, Minister for Environment, Food and Agriculture, said: "Closing the rest of the territorial sea is not a decision taken lightly, and I hope both the industry and wider public will acknowledge that this is a decision being made for the future sustainability of the industry and our queen scallop stocks."
