Lifeboat launched after reports of swimmers in difficulty
Wed, 14 Aug 2019
Ramsey Lifeboat was launched yesterday afternoon following a report from a concerned member of the public who had spotted two people in the sea near the Queens Pier who appeared to be in difficulty.
The volunteer lifeboat crew quickly established contact with the casualties, who had been snorkelling, and determined that they were safe and well.
The lifeboat returned to the beach and waiting shore crew where it was recovered, washed down, rehoused and made ready for service.
Kevin Christian, Lifeboat Operation Manager, Ramsey RNLI said: 'The member of the public did the correct thing by calling 999 and asking for the Coastguard.
If as a swimmer you encounter difficulties while swimming follow the RNLI's 'How to Float' advice (viewhttps://www.respectthewater.com/ ), wave your arms and shout for help.'
