Manx Telecom has issued an apology after it was accused of using scare tactics.
Onchan MHK Rob Callister accused the firm of using guerrilla marketing after he received a letter from the notifying him of an upcoming price increase to a tariff no longer sold by the company.
Mr Calister said: "I have been a loyal customer of Manx Telecom for over 20 years but the tone of the correspondence certainly made me consider changing over to “Sure Mobile”."
"When I went into the Manx Telecom shop on Friday lunchtime I was very surprised by the number of people in the shop complaining about similar letters they had also received."
The telecoms provider said it wanted to let customers on older packages know about the potential savings they could make by moving onto a newer deal and has since apologised.
