Get into gear for the Gran Fondo

Sat, 20 Jul 2019

Hundreds of cyclists are gearing up for one of the highlights of the Manx cycling calendar year tomorrow.

The Gran Frondo consists of four separate cycling challenges, starting and finishing at Mooragh Park in Ramsey.

They include the 85-mile Gran Fondo, which takes place on largely closed roads, the 40-mile Medio Fondo for recreational riders, the 20-mile Piccolo Fondo for families and beginners and the Minisculo Fondo, a half-mile circuit in and around Mooragh Park aimed at children and families.

Competitors will be followed around the 85-mile circuit by two service vehicles, provided by event sponsor The Hubb, which will offer assistance and equipment for riders that suffer mechanical issues during the race.

IMPORTANT ROAD CLOSURE INFORMATION - GRAN FONDO IOM

Please be aware that the road closures could impact local travel arrangements on Sunday 21st July 2019 on the Isle of Man.

Due to the scale and numbers participating in Gran Fondo Isle of Man, it will be necessary to implement road closures across much of the route to facilitate the safe passage of cyclists.

The route has been carefully considered and selected working with local authorities, emergency services and transport operators to minimise the inconvenience of the necessary road closures. Emergency Services will be operating as usual and the public should use normal protocol in the case of an emergency.
