Castletown Commissioners will request a meeting with their constituency MHKs after expressing unhappiness with central government.

At a meeting this week some members complained the town was being neglected, and felt their efforts to improve the ancient capital hadn’t received sufficient support at national level.

Frustrations were centred on a perceived lack of progress on the new Castle Rushen High School, conflict over traffic management in the town, and regeneration.

A notice of motion was put forward by Jimmy Cubbon, who wanted to send a letter to the chief minister articulating these views.

However, an amendment by Colin Leather, calling for a meeting with Arbory Castletown and Malew MHKs Jason Moorhouse and Graham Cregeen, was voted through.

Mr Leather agreed with the sentiment of Mr Cubbon’s motion, but felt it was better to discuss these issues with national representatives first, a view shared by the board.
