148 people arrested during TT 2019

Wed, 12 Jun 2019

Isle of Man Constabulary have published its statistics outlining accident and arrest figures across the TT 2019 period.

Statistics are measured from the Saturday of Practice week to end of Sunday after Senior Race Day on both 2018 and 2019.

Overall the number of collisions reduced this year by 21% from 78 in 2018, to 62, whilst overall arrests made across TT fortnight increased by 17% to 148.

Serious collisions were down by 42% and slight collisions reduced by 20%. This year there were also two fatal accidents. Both incidents took place in different locations on the Sloc A36 road in the south of the Island. These collisions are being investigated and any issues raised will be thoroughly examined.

Drink-drive related arrests were down 23% for TT 2019. This year the Constabulary focused on identifying potential issues at an early stage and this increased the overall number of Public Order arrests. The adverse weather and race cancellations contributed to busier town centres and the number of drink-related arrests being made.

A series of de-briefs will now be conducted before work towards planning any policing improvements for MGP and TT 2020.
