Lifeboat launched to rescue sinking fishing boat

Peel lifeboat was launched last night to assist a sinking fishing vessel.

The fishing boat had raised the alarm about 21 miles West of Peel after its own pumps failed.

Donaghadee lifeboat was on the scene first and escorted the fishing boat into Portavogie which had by this time managed to get its pumps working.

On returning to Peel at about 10pm, the lifeboat was tasked to assist a local yacht which had a rope entangled in its prop.The yacht was safely towed into Peel harbour.
