Women now have access to abortion services on Island.
Three orders were unanimously passed in Tywnald this week - ensuring the act can come into force today.
The new act mean women on the Island will be able to request an abortion within the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.
Until today, abortions could only be carried out if a woman was raped or because of concerns about her mental health.
The government has released a statement which outlines how women on Island seeking a termination have been given a dedicated telephone hotline to get confidential advice, support and information.
