A campaign to ensure the Island’s roads are safe prior to and during TT fortnight has been launched by the Isle of Man Constabulary.
Following on from previous years, ‘Keep Calm and Slow Down’, ‘Keep Calm and Ride Safe’ and ‘Keep Calm and Drive Sober’ will remain the core messages of the TT road safety campaign, urging road users to stay safe on the Island’s roads.
The 2019 TT road safety campaign was launched by the Home Affairs Minister Bill Malarkey MHK and Superintendent for Operational Policing, Steve Maddocks, at the Grandstand.
Superintendent Steve Maddocks, said: ‘The safety of visitors and residents is a priority for the police force and we will be promoting the road safety campaign to both visitors and residents. Officers will be patrolling on the roads and on foot throughout the TT and at the many events taking place across the fortnight. The TT is a busy period for the constabulary and we look forward to welcoming the many thousands of visitors who will be arriving imminently and playing our part in ensuring the Isle of Man’s roads are safe.’
Throughout TT fortnight, the road safety team will be visiting the Grandstand, Ramsey Sprint, Peel Day, Braddan Church and Castletown.
The Mountain Road’s one-way system will be in place from 4.30pm on Friday 24 May for the entire fortnight.
The first practice session of the 2019 Isle of Man TT is scheduled to take place from 6pm on Saturday 25 May.
