A dedicated RNLI fundraiser from Ramsey has retired after more than 30 years of loyal service.
Mary Page, a long serving member of Ramsey Ladies’ Lifeboat Guild, is stepping down after over 30 years of dedicated fundraising for the RNLI. At a celebratory luncheon held in her honour last week, her Guild colleagues gathered to say thank you and present Mary with two beautiful rose bushes for her garden.
Mary joined the Ramsey Ladies’ Lifeboat Guild in 1986 after retiring to Ramsey with her husband, the late Mr Derek Page. In 1988 she was elected Secretary. Derek became a member and eventually chairman of Ramsey RNLI Branch Committee.
Mary and Derek worked indefatigably as a team raising funds for the RNLI charity until Derek sadly passed away in 2004. Mary passionately carried on with the lifesaving work and was elected Chairman of Ramsey Ladies’ Lifeboat Guild in 2005.
Ramsey Ladies’ Lifeboat Guild has been part of the Ramsey community and the RNLI for 106 years. It formed originally in 1913 as the Ramsey Ladies’ Auxiliary. During 1926 it evolved into the Ramsey Ladies’ Guild and finally in 1927 it became the Ramsey Ladies’ Lifeboat Guild.
