Garff Commissioners have voted to become partners of UNESCO Biosphere Isle of Man.
Local authority members unanimously backed the decision at a meeting last night and will now apply for the status.
Aspiring partners are asked by the government to sign up to the ‘biosphere pledge’, a series of principles which include protecting natural resources, positive environmental impact, and promoting ‘living landscapes’.
Garff joins Douglas Corporation as the second local authority to apply for Biosphere partnership.
