Onchan biker narrowly avoids road ban

An Onchan biker who narrowly avoided a head-on collision has been spared a driving ban.

Mervyn Donnell of Seaview Road admitted driving without due care and attention when he appeared before Douglas magistrates.

The court heard he overtook a car near Alpine Corner on the TT course, ignoring an oncoming vehicle.

Magistrates fined Donnell £600 and ordered him to pay £800 costs.

He was also given eight penalty points on his licence.
