Tynwald approves extra £4 million for health overspend

Tynwald has approved the Treasury by awarding another £4M to the Department of Health to cover its overspend.

Health Minister David Ashford yesterday asked Treasury for the money which will come from general revenue to cover the excess expenditure.

The overspend is being blamed due to increased costs at Noble's Hospital.

The money was approved but several members criticised the management of the hospital and leadership of the Island's health department.

Speaking to MTTV, Mr Ashford said it was an improvement from previous overspends.
