No plans for national holiday for elections

A suggestion we should have a national holiday on election days has been dismissed.

Yesterday, Ramsey MHK Lawrie Hooper suggested the idea would boost dwindling voter turnout.

But Policy and Reform Minister Chris Thomas dismissed the suggestion in this week's sitting of the House of Keys by saying the cost to the Island's economy would be too high.
