Three members of Bride Parish Commissioners have resigned, bringing the local authority to a standstill until a by-election is held.
Ian Beech, Jim Crook and Maureen Hodgson left the board this month due to ‘differences of opinion’ with clerk Lisa Sims.
The resignations come after the local authority chose to freeze the rates for the year ahead.
With only two out of five commissioners remaining, the authority is no longer quorate.
A by-election has been called to fill the vacant seats ahead of the next authority meeting in February.
Nomination papers must be submitted by 5pm on the 31 January, and in the event of a contested election, polling will take place on 23 February.
Forms can be collected from 21 Mountain View, Ballaugh and once completed sent back to the same address.
