Douglas Council has been included as a partner of the Island's UNESCO Biosphere status for its efforts to reduce energy use.
The local authority's conversion of street lights to LED units, investment in electric vehicles, recycling services and other initiatives to reduce energy consumption were recognised by the UN agency.
Chairman of the council's environmental services committee Ritchie McNicholl is pleased the authority's contribution has been noticed, and given a 'stamp of quality' by the body.
