Fire crews called to flat fire

Fire crews were called to a flat fire at Drury Terrace in Douglas earlier today.

Two teams wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire in the fourth floor flat and checked all occupants had safely left the building.

They remained in attendance for an hour checking for hot spots with a thermal image camera and clearing the building of smoke.

The fire was confined to the kitchen of the flat involved and was believed to have started by the occupant forgetting they were cooking.
