Fisherman fined for illegal fishing

A fisherman has been prosecuted for illegal fishing in Manx Waters.
Mr Dinars Lugans from Lincoln appeared in court on Tuesday where he pleaded guilty to retaining Whelk under the minimum landing size.
Mr Lugans was fined £25,000 for the misconduct and £125 in costs. His catch, valued at approximately £3,500 was forfeited.
The Minister responsible for the Island's fisheries - Geoffrey Boot - has warned those breaking the Island's fishing laws will face prosecution and heavy financial penalties.
