A Rally driver has died following an incident on the Pokerstars Rally, held on the Island three weeks ago.
Mark James from Wales crashed on the 8th Stage of the event and was flown to Liverpool Aintree Hospital with head injuries.
Rally Medics called in the aid of the Island’s Ambulance and Fire services, to cut free Mr James and his co-driver Hefin Jenkins, who was unhurt.
Mr James death was announced on the Ammanford Motor Club Social Media page last night (Mon 3rd Dec).
A long time friend of Mr James, Ian Taylor paid tribute to him saying that Mark was “a larger than life character who would help anyone at the drop of a hat” he went on to say that it ‘was never a dull event with him around”.
Organsiers Manx Auto Sport have been contacted for a response.
The death of Mark James is only the third fatality in Manx Rallying - the last being in 1989.
