A British Airways flight to London City Airport was diverted to Stansted on Tuesday night after smoke was detected on the flight deck.
The onboard crew declared a 'Pan-Pan' emergency to give the aircraft priority landing.
Flight BA3287 from the Isle of Man landed safely at Standsted. 46 passengers were transferred by coach to London City.
The flight was operated by Loganair on behalf of British Airways.
In a statement, BA said: "We apologise to customers for the disruption to their journey following the diversion of our flight after a smell of smoke was detected in the flight deck."
"Safety is always our top priority, and the flight landed normally."
"We arranged for staff to look after customers and they continued their journey to London City Airport by coach."
