Police are urging people to drive safely on the Island this afternoon

Heavy rain and strong winds have led to standing water on some roads with debris also posing a hazard.

This afternoon’s Steam Packet service to Heysham has been cancelled and the Harbour Master will determine whether the evening crossing will go ahead later today.

More rain is expected this afternoon and tonight with high winds also forecast.
