A series of public meetings designed to strengthen and build links within the Willaston community will be held this Wednesday.
The initiative is aimed at bringing groups such as the young and the retired together to exchange knowledge, start friendships and integrate.
It’s been organised by the Willaston Community Forum, which is represented by Douglas Councillors, MHKs, the police, schools, and University College Isle of Man.
The group was first created to investigate ways of building a strong community in the area, which councillors feel is often left forgotten in the greater picture of Douglas.
There are two public meetings being held on Wednesday, the first at 2pm and the second 7pm, both held in the community room on the first floor of the Manor Hotel in Willaston.
Members of the public are being encouraged to attend the meetings.
Douglas North MHK and Health and Social Care Minister David Ashford will be at the afternoon meeting.
His fellow constituency MHK Ralph Peake and Lulu Gillow from University College Isle of Man are both group members.
They explained the history of the initiative to Local Democracy Reporter Ewan Gawne:
