The Island's roads police are urging drivers to make sure their cars are ready for the winter.
Officers from the Roads Policing Unit have begun conducting winter vehicle checks alongside Department of Infrastructure vehicle examiners.
Yesterday evening - the unit stopped and examined 20 vehicles. 17 vehicle defect rectification notices issued to drivers for lights out giving them 7 days to fix the fault.
One vehicle stopped had a tyre that was so bald, the cord was showing. The vehicle was prohibited from continuing its journey and the driver issued with an endorsable fixed penalty notice with 3 penalty points and £120 fine.
Police want motorists to check their lights are working, ensuring windows are demisted, remember to use fog lights when needed and check the condition of their tyres.
