An initiative aimed at getting more people to walk and cycle on the Isle of Man has been launched.
The Island’s first Active Travel Strategy was launched this week at Ballakermeen High School in Douglas.
UK charity, Sustrans, has been recruited following approval by Tynwald in July.
The strategy’s aim is to increase participation and see more than 20% of people travelling actively to work by the time information for the 2021 Census is gathered - a marked increase from 14% when the 2011 Census took place.
Infrastructure Minister Ray Harmer MHK said: ‘Providing ways in which people can choose to walk or cycle is at the centre of what we are trying to achieve through Active Travel, and I’m confident Sustrans will help us deliver the aims of the strategy."
