Suspected Chemical Spill Causes Evacuation Of Homes

Residents in a Douglas street were evacuated from their homes following a suspected chemical spill.

Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service were called to Port-E-Chee Avenue at just after 3pm on Saturday.

Residents were evacuated as a precaution following reports involving potentially unstable chemicals.

Police urged people to keep away and paramedics were also at the scene.

It was confirmed that the substance has been safely disposed of.

IOM Constabulary say there was no risk to residents or the public as a result of the incident.
